Synopsis
Their father put the sign up in 1984 and it still says Kirchner and Sons, plural, which is either a promise or a joke depending on which brother you ask, and none of the three has asked another anything in two years. Dean has run it alone since the argument. Nineteen men on the payroll, forty-one years of work, and a note their father wrote that the bank will refinance if all three sons sign it. Wes is in Reno. Tom is nine miles away and does not pick up. Dean has thirty days, two phone numbers, and a reason for the silence that he has never said out loud to either of them.
