About this title
Synopsis
Route 9 leaves the yard at 5:40 and comes back empty at 7:04. Deb Sarrazin has driven it for twenty-two years, through two superintendents and one flood, and she can name every mailbox on it. The consolidation vote passed in June with a map attached. On the map, the last thirty miles of her route are a gray area with no children in it. There are eleven. She has until the spring budget to change the map, and the only argument the board will hear is one that ends in a number.
Who this is about
Deb Sarrazin drives the longest school bus route in the district, seventy-one miles before seven in the morning, and has driven it since her own children rode it.
What goes wrong
The district consolidates and cuts the far half of her route, which leaves eleven children with a three-hour ride, a move, or no school at all.
What's at stake
Fighting the cut sets her against the board that employs her and the neighbors who want the tax relief. Accepting it ends school for children she has driven since they were five.
Why it keeps going
She has one school year to prove the route pays for itself, and every board meeting is a smaller room with fewer people in it.
Takeaway
A bus route is not transportation. It is the last thing holding a place together.

Where your money goes
Your money goes straight to the creator to turn this pitch into a trailer. A pitch today is a poster and a logline. What the money buys is the first piece of film anyone will see.
Nothing is collected until two things are true
This campaign has to raise $300, which is 60% of its ask, and reach 50 backers. Whichever of the two happens later is the one that counts. Money without backers is one person, and backers without money is a crowd that cannot fund the thing, so a Pitch campaign needs both.
