About this title
Synopsis
Verdance has four hundred and six people and a main street with nine empty windows on it. Emmett Sopko has the hardware store his father left him, a good reputation, and no reason anybody can name for still being there. Iris Mendel comes back in June to empty her mother's house. It is supposed to take three weeks. It takes all summer, because nobody in a town like this lets you do it alone. The truck is booked for the eighth of September. Neither of them mentions it until August.
Who this is about
Emmett Sopko stayed in Verdance to run his father's hardware store and is the only man under thirty still on the town's tax roll.
What goes wrong
The woman he grew up with comes back for one summer to close out her mother's house, and the store has ninety days of inventory left on the shelves.
What's at stake
Asking her to stay is asking her to accept the same small life he settled for. Not asking means closing the store alone in the fall.
Why it keeps going
The summer is the deadline for both of them, and every few weeks another storefront on the street goes dark.
Takeaway
Asking somebody to stay only works if you have made the staying worth wanting.

Where your money goes
Your money goes straight to the creator to turn this pitch into a trailer. A pitch today is a poster and a logline. What the money buys is the first piece of film anyone will see.
Nothing is collected until two things are true
This campaign has to raise $300, which is 60% of its ask, and reach 50 backers. Whichever of the two happens later is the one that counts. Money without backers is one person, and backers without money is a crowd that cannot fund the thing, so a Pitch campaign needs both.
