About this title
Synopsis
The Grange hall in Deuel County holds a dance the second Saturday after the last combine comes out of the field, and it has done so every autumn since before Emil Prokop was old enough to be taken to one. Three autumns ago the county agent stood in his seed corn and signed the order that burned eighty acres, in the same month his wife stopped coming downstairs. Ada Reinhart was right about the corn. Emil has never said she wasn't. They have found each other at that dance three years running, near the coffee, and talked about rainfall. This year she has a transfer letter in a drawer and he has a nephew asking after the deed.
Who this is about
Emil Prokop has farmed the same ground for forty-one years and buried his wife on it. Ada Reinhart is the county agent who signed the order to burn his eighty acres.
What goes wrong
Nothing goes wrong. That is the trouble. Three years of harvest dances, three years of the same corner by the coffee urn, and three years of talking about the weather.
What's at stake
She has been offered a posting three counties over. He has a nephew who wants the farm. The fourth dance is the last one either of them will be standing at.
Why it keeps going
Each episode is one season of the year between the dances, and one more small thing each of them does for the other without ever naming what it is.
Takeaway
Some things go unsaid so long that saying them becomes the bravest thing left.

Where your money goes
Your money goes straight to the creator to turn this pitch into a trailer. A pitch today is a poster and a logline. What the money buys is the first piece of film anyone will see.
Nothing is collected until two things are true
This campaign has to raise $300, which is 60% of its ask, and reach 50 backers. Whichever of the two happens later is the one that counts. Money without backers is one person, and backers without money is a crowd that cannot fund the thing, so a Pitch campaign needs both.
