Salvage law is the last clean law anywhere. A wreck with no claim on it belongs to whoever reaches it, files first and can prove they were there. The Ostrow brothers have made eleven years of a living out of that sentence. The Kestrel has been drifting eighteen months, is on no registry, and answers nothing. They file at 0600 and board at 0730. On the second deck there is a woman in a suit with four hours of air left, and a wreck with a living crew is not a wreck.
Who it follows
The Ostrow brothers make a living on unclaimed wrecks, where the law is clear, the paperwork is short and the money is entirely legal.
What goes wrong
The wreck they have just claimed has a survivor in it, which means it is not salvage.
What is at stake
Reporting her forfeits the claim, and the claim is eleven months of debt.
What keeps it running
Each episode she tells them one more thing about what the ship was carrying.
