Who it follows
Monte’s story is a sweeping epic of the early 20th century through the eyes of one of the most colorful characters in American history. Because he was the involuntary partner of a series of the most powerful gangsters of the era, Monte’s story is also a keyhole view of the struggle between crime and conscience in America. It is a history of America at night.
What goes wrong
The "Prime Minister" of the mafia, Frank Costello, walks into the construction site of the future Copacabana, greets the owner Monte with a firm handshake and says, "Say hello to your new partner." Reluctantly, Monte accepts his fate. He is now caught in spider's web of corruption.
What is at stake
Frank Costello loses his $250,000 investment and shows weakness to his ambitious and violent partners. Monte would likely become personally responsible for the lost money or end up in the East River in cement shoes.
What keeps it running
There is an episode twelve because the author of the underlying intellectual property, a novel, is Jim Proser, the son of Monte. Jim is an accomplished film producer, writer and director. He is also a new master of AI creation. He is prepared to finance and produce Mr. Copacabana the series by himself but prefers to have investors as financial support and the base of his audience.
