About this title
Synopsis
Vera Pallant is twenty-nine, three years out of law school, with one room above a hardware store, a part-time clerk, and eleven client families in a paper-mill town on the Ausable. The town drinks the river. The mill has discharged into it since 1946 and has never been asked a question it could not answer. In 1974 Vera asks one, and the company answers it lawfully, on time, with four hundred and ten cartons of paper. Somewhere in the cartons is one memorandum. Nobody is required to tell her which. She has a November deadline, fourteen opposing lawyers with no reason to hurry, and every page has to be read by somebody who knows what to look for.
Who this is about
Vera Pallant is twenty-nine, three years out of law school, and the only lawyer in four counties who returned the phone call from a woman whose two sons are sick.
What goes wrong
The company answers discovery with four hundred and ten cartons of paper, correctly, on time, and entirely legally. Somewhere in them is the memo. Nobody is obligated to say which carton.
What's at stake
She has no firm, no partner, one clerk, and a filing deadline in November. The company has fourteen lawyers and no particular hurry, and the town keeps drinking the water.
Why it keeps going
Each episode is another carton, another deposition, and another family deciding whether to put a child's name on a complaint their neighbors would rather not have filed.
Takeaway
A company that buries a document in plain sight has already decided nobody has the years to look.

Where your money goes
Your money goes straight to the creator to turn this pitch into a trailer. A pitch today is a poster and a logline. What the money buys is the first piece of film anyone will see.
Nothing is collected until two things are true
This campaign has to raise $300, which is 60% of its ask, and reach 50 backers. Whichever of the two happens later is the one that counts. Money without backers is one person, and backers without money is a crowd that cannot fund the thing, so a Pitch campaign needs both.
