About this title
Synopsis
Ansel Roque flies a circuit clinic to four villages off the Kuskokwim. Eleven years, no incidents, and a hard rule about being wheels-up before the light goes. The lake outside Tuluvik takes the left gear on landing. The plane is finished. His passenger, a school cook with a fractured pelvis, is nine miles from a building with a stove in it. He can walk out in a day alone. With the sled it is four, if the ice holds, and the ice is already three weeks past what the chart says it should be. Tomorrow gives him six hours of light. The day after gives him five.
Who this is about
Ansel Roque flies a circuit clinic to four villages off the Kuskokwim and wants nothing more complicated than to make his rounds and get home before freeze-up.
What goes wrong
He puts the plane down on a lake that should have held and does not, nine miles from the nearest village, with a patient aboard who cannot walk.
What's at stake
Going for help alone is the survivable choice and leaves her on the ice. Staying costs them both the only daylight they have left.
Why it keeps going
The ice moves every day and so does the answer, so each morning presents the same choice on worse terms and with less of what they started with.
Takeaway
The right thing and the survivable thing are sometimes nine miles apart, and you still have to pick one before dark.

Where your money goes
Your money goes straight to the creator to turn this pitch into a trailer. A pitch today is a poster and a logline. What the money buys is the first piece of film anyone will see.
Nothing is collected until two things are true
This campaign has to raise $300, which is 60% of its ask, and reach 50 backers. Whichever of the two happens later is the one that counts. Money without backers is one person, and backers without money is a crowd that cannot fund the thing, so a Pitch campaign needs both.
