Synopsis
Scotland, 1561. Mary, Queen of Scots, is eighteen, Catholic, charming, and underestimated by everyone. She comes home to a country that has just turned Protestant. John Knox is the fiercest preacher in Edinburgh, a former galley slave with nothing left to lose. When she hears Mass in her own chapel, he preaches against it from the pulpit of St. Giles, and she summons him to answer for it. Each audience puts the two of them face to face, each certain the other is endangering the nation, while the lords around them change sides. For Knox the price is prison or worse. For Mary, it is her crown.
