About this title
Synopsis
Nell Torrance is forty-one. Makalu is her fourth peak above eight thousand meters. She has a nine-year-old at home in Bozeman and a team of five who trust her judgment completely. At 8,300 meters, on the way down, she finds a Slovenian climber sitting in the snow off the fixed line. His bottle is empty. He has been there some time. At that altitude a man in that condition has about an hour. Nell has one bottle, a regulator, and four hours of light. She gives him the bottle. Then she stands up in air that will not keep a person alive, and starts down, owing everyone below her.
Who this is about
Nell Torrance is forty-one, on her fourth eight-thousand-meter summit, and climbing with a small team that trusts her judgment more than she has ever entirely deserved. She has a nine-year-old daughter in Bozeman.
What goes wrong
At 8,300 meters she finds a Slovenian climber sitting down, out of gas, an hour from dead. She gives him her bottle and her regulator and her place in the descent order.
What's at stake
She now has to get down on lungs alone. Her own team will have to come back up for her, in the dark, into the same air that already emptied one man.
Why it keeps going
Every hundred meters of descent costs more than the last, and everyone below her is now spending something of their own on a decision they did not make.
Takeaway
A debt of air cannot be settled later. It is collected on the way down, from whoever is nearest.

Where your money goes
Your money goes straight to the creator to turn this pitch into a trailer. A pitch today is a poster and a logline. What the money buys is the first piece of film anyone will see.
Nothing is collected until two things are true
This campaign has to raise $300, which is 60% of its ask, and reach 50 backers. Whichever of the two happens later is the one that counts. Money without backers is one person, and backers without money is a crowd that cannot fund the thing, so a Pitch campaign needs both.
