Synopsis
Vasco Haulage has nineteen trucks, forty employees and an office on the Old Dock Road with his father's name still on the glass. Nicky came home in March to run it, which everybody agreed was the right thing and about time. The office closes at six. What Nicky worked out in the second week is that the business does not. It continues at his mother's kitchen table, from half past seven, in a second ledger written in a hand he has known his entire life.
