Synopsis
Dietrich Bonhoeffer could have waited out the war in New York. He went home to Germany instead. He is a Lutheran pastor and a brilliant theologian, and he has written that grace is not cheap. Preaching against the regime is no longer enough. The men he trusts are planning to kill Hitler, and they want his help. The questions he wrote about are not on paper anymore. Later there is a cell, and letters about what a Christian owes his country, and any one of them might be his last. His faith, his family and the woman he is engaged to are all on the other side of the door.
