Synopsis
The company sealed Sector Nine in November. There was a notice, a small ceremony, a photograph in the local paper, and a count: forty-one men down on the final shift, forty-one men up. Ines Duarte has a brother who is not in the house he pays rent on, and has not been since November, and whose name appears on both halves of that count in the same handwriting and the same ink. The seal becomes permanent in ninety days. After that there is no sector, no shaft, and nothing left to be wrong about.
