About this title
Synopsis
The satellites cannot see through the cloud. That is the entire reason there are six men on the ground at seventy-two degrees north, walking into a valley to confirm with their eyes what nobody can confirm from orbit. They carry four days of rations, which is one more than the plan calls for, and the plan was written by people who have been right about this before. On the second night the same weather that hides the target closes the sky behind them. The forecast, when it finally comes through on a signal too weak to answer, gives them nine days.
Who this is about
A reconnaissance team of six is put on the ground at seventy-two degrees north to confirm with their eyes what nobody can confirm from orbit.
What goes wrong
On the second night the same cloud that hides the target closes the sky behind them. The forecast gives them nine days.
What's at stake
Four days of rations. Six men.
Why it keeps going
Each episode is one more day of weather and one more decision about what they intend to still be when it clears.
Takeaway
Men will share the last of anything. It is the second to last that tells you about them.
