About this title
Synopsis
Nell Arriaga drove her grandmother's body out to the homestead herself. Two hundred miles, a rented van, no service after Barstow. Her mother told her not to go. Nell went. The teeth rode up front in a coffee tin. They do not go in the ground with the rest of her. The family has held this land since 1911 and has never once been poor, and Nell knows why. Every twenty years somebody signs. Her grandmother signed in 2006, so the next signature is Nell's. She has decided not to give one, which means giving back what the last one bought, and what it bought was her brother.
Who this is about
Nell Arriaga is thirty-four, and she drove her grandmother's body two hundred miles out to the family homestead herself, against her mother's instructions and with the teeth in a coffee tin.
What goes wrong
The mortgage is nothing. The other arrangement renews every twenty years, the last renewal was her grandmother's, and the family has already spent what that one bought.
What's at stake
Signing keeps the land, the water, and her brother, who walked away from a wreck that killed everyone else in the car. Refusing gives all three back.
Why it keeps going
Her mother, her uncle, and eventually her brother each come out to the desert to explain, reasonably, why Nell should sign, and each has a different thing to lose.
Takeaway
Every inheritance arrives with a bill, and the ones that arrive quietly are the expensive kind.

Where your money goes
Your money goes straight to the creator to turn this pitch into a trailer. A pitch today is a poster and a logline. What the money buys is the first piece of film anyone will see.
Nothing is collected until two things are true
This campaign has to raise $300, which is 60% of its ask, and reach 50 backers. Whichever of the two happens later is the one that counts. Money without backers is one person, and backers without money is a crowd that cannot fund the thing, so a Pitch campaign needs both.
