Synopsis
Twenty-two years in homicide have taught Detective Naomi Fisk that witnesses are mostly reliable, mostly, and that the exceptions are usually lying about something small and unrelated, like where they were parked. The thirtieth floor of the Kestrel Building is glass partitions corner to corner. Four people watched a man get killed there on a Wednesday afternoon, and they have given her four different rooms, all of them honest, none of them the same. Three of the four agree with each other, which is enough for an arrest and a promotion she has earned twice over. The fourth is the night janitor, and he is the only one who was not looking at a reflection.

Detective Naomi Fisk has closed more homicides than anyone in her division by believing witnesses, which works right up until four of them describe the same killing in four incompatible rooms.
What goes wrong
The thirtieth floor is glass partitions all the way across. Every account is honest, and every account is a reflection, and three of the four agree with each other.
What's at stake
The agreeing three make a clean arrest and a promotion she has waited nine years for. The fourth is a janitor nobody will put in front of a jury.
Why it keeps going
Each episode she walks the floor again from one more angle, and the geometry keeps siding with the man nobody wants to believe and against the three who would make her career.
