Synopsis

Dale and Remy have lost every tournament they have entered, which they consider an average. The bait shop is three weeks from the bank. The classic pays exactly what they owe. They have a boat, a rod each and one theory about where the fish are. The theory is wrong, but it is theirs. The horn sounds. The boat takes on water.

Who this is about

Dale Thibodeaux is thirty-two and Remy Broussard is thirty, lifelong friends from a bayou town who have lost every fishing tournament they have ever entered.

What goes wrong

Their bait shop is about to be repossessed, and the regional bass classic pays exactly the amount they owe. They have never finished in the top fifty.

What's at stake

A bad tournament means losing the shop. A worse tournament means losing the boat, the friendship and the last of their dignity.

Why it keeps going

A sinking bass boat, two rivals with sponsors, a judge who has banned them twice and a lake that clearly favors somebody else.
