About this title
Synopsis
Nine minutes and eleven seconds. Four thousand people, six buildings, two of them below ground, and not a single injury. Dana Oyelowo wrote that protocol in 2019 and has drilled it eleven times, and on the night it mattered it ran better than any drill. There was no fire. There was never going to be a fire. What there was, at 21:14, was the fourth floor of Building C, empty for the first time in nine years, with the doors held open by her own evacuation.
Who this is about
Security chief Dana Oyelowo runs the alarm at a research campus and puts four thousand people on the lawn in nine minutes, which is a record.
What goes wrong
There was never a fire, and the only floor anybody entered was the one everybody had just left.
What's at stake
Her protocol worked perfectly, and that is precisely how it was used.
Why it keeps going
Each episode she reconstructs one more thing she did correctly.
Takeaway
A good system is the easiest thing in the world to aim.
